Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing can be a supportive, optional tool for families who wish to gain additional information about biological and lifestyle-related factors that may influence everyday functioning. During the initial consultation, we review background information and current concerns to help families decide whether functional laboratory testing may be useful as part of their broader learning and support process.
All tests are completed from home. We support families by coordinating logistics, providing clear instructions for sample collection, and assisting with understanding the information provided in laboratory reports.
Important Notice: We do not sell laboratory tests directly. The tests listed here are recommended as part of a comprehensive approach to healthcare and are provided for educational purposes only. Testing decisions and interpretation should always be made in collaboration with a qualified healthcare provider. Laboratory results are not intended to diagnose or treat disease on their own.

About Our Labs

We work with internationally recognized laboratories such as Vibrant Wellness (USA) and Nordic Laboratories (Denmark), which specialize in functional and integrative testing. These laboratories provide detailed reports that families may use to explore patterns related to digestion, environmental exposures, and biochemical pathways. Our role is to help families understand this information in an educational context and consider how it may fit into their broader support journey, alongside licensed medical care.

1. Organic Acid Test
The OAT is often the best first step. This urine test measures over 70 biochemical markers that show how your child’s body is functioning at a cellular level. It provides insight into:
  • Gut Health – Yeast (Candida) and bacterial overgrowth
  • Nutrient Status – B-vitamins, antioxidants, amino acids
  • Energy Production – mitochondrial function and oxidative stress
  • Detoxification – how effectively toxins are cleared
2. Environmental Toxin Test
Children are exposed to chemicals every day through food, water, air, and household products. This urine test detects harmful exposures such as:
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Plastics and industrial chemicals (BPA, phthalates)
  • Mold toxins (mycotoxins) from damp buildings
  • Solvents and pollutants
3. Gut Zoomer (Comprehensive Gut Microbiome Test)
The gut is central not only to digestion but also to the immune system and brain. This stool test provides a detailed picture of:
  • Microbial Balance – healthy vs. harmful bacteria, yeast, parasites
  • Digestive Function – enzyme activity, nutrient absorption, fat breakdown
  • Inflammation and Immunity – markers of gut irritation or immune overactivation
  • Leaky Gut (intestinal permeability) – when the gut lining becomes too porous, allowing food particles and toxins into the bloodstream, driving inflammation and neurological effects
4. Hormone Zoomer
This test is especially valuable for mothers of children with special needs, who often live in a constant state of stress and exhaustion. Hormonal imbalances can contribute to fatigue, poor sleep, irritability, and difficulty coping with daily demands.

Hormones are the body’s communication system, regulating sleep, energy, mood, and growth. The Hormone Zoomer measures key hormones and neurotransmitters to identify where that system may be out of balance. It provides insight into:
  • Stress Hormones – cortisol and DHEA levels showing how the body handles stress
  • Sex Hormones – estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone balance
  • Sleep Regulation – melatonin and related pathways
  • Mood & Motivation – neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine
5. Neurotransmitter Zoomer
Neurotransmitters are brain chemicals such as dopamine, serotonin, GABA, and glutamate that regulate mood, focus, sleep, and behavior. This urine test can be valuable in complex cases, especially in older children, teenagers, or adults with:
  • Severe anxiety, depression, or mood instability
  • Bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
  • ADHD not responding to typical interventions
  • Aggression or treatment-resistant behavioral issues
6. Heavy Metal Test
This test helps determine whether the body is burdened with substances such as lead, mercury, or arsenic, which can accumulate and interfere with normal biological functions. Even low-level, long-term exposure to certain metals, such as cadmium or nickel, can disrupt the immune system and cause fatigue, headaches, poor focus, or digestive issues — often without obvious symptoms.

A non-invasive and accurate urine test assesses both recent and ongoing exposure to 20 different heavy metals. The results help to:
  • Identify possible causes of unexplained symptoms (fatigue, brain fog, joint pain)
  • Monitor the effectiveness of detoxification or chelation therapies
  • Detect early signs of liver or kidney overload
  • Assess environmental or occupational exposure risks
